The theme art is by renowned landscape artist John Taft. This work emphasizes the lone paratrooper (modeled by John's son Jack) from the 101st Airborne. On top, we see the C-47s dropping paratroopers into the French darkness minutes into June 6. In the early morning, the landing craft arrive at the bottom left. Finally, men charge through the water into bloody combat at the bottom right.
Although the 1949 Mercury pickup that Randy drove in college was built five years after D-Day, this painting demonstrates the skill that convinced us to ask John to create the cover art.
